EasyLister Quick Start Guide

Welcome to the EasyLister quick setup guide. This guide will help new users get up and running with their new EasyLister system. This guide is intended for those who have used Trade Me, but have used listing software. Other users may be interested in our switcher guides: Switching from Auctionitis and Switching from Tradetool2.

What is EasyLister?

EasyLister is an online service that helps you manage, list and relist your Trade Me auctions. It provides numerous benefits over the standard Trade Me system and can massively reduce the amount of time you spend managing your auctions.

Getting started

Setting up an account

Step 1 - Creating a new account

It's easy to create an EasyLister account. Simply visit the EasyLister website (www.easylister.co.nz) and click the Signup button.

You will need to provide an email address and a password. These will be the details you use to log into EasyLister, so make sure you remember them. They do not need to be the same as your Trade Me login details.

After you have created your account, you will be logged into your new EasyLister system automatically - it's that easy!

Step 2 - Set up your Trade Me access

This is where you set up details about your Trade Me account.

Once in your new EasyLister system, you will need to provide your Trade Me login details. For EasyLister to work, it needs to be able to log in to Trade Me to list and relist your auctions. After you have entered these details, EasyLister will log into Trade Me to confirm them. If you have entered them incorrectly, a message will be shown and you will need to retry.

Once EasyLister has confirmed your details, you will be taken to the list of your products.

Step 3 - Success - your account is set up and ready

The list of products in your system. It's empty at the moment!

Congratulations! Your account is now ready for you to start listing products on Trade Me.

Of course, you have no products set up yet! Lets fix that. :)

Creating products

Step 4 - About products

You may notice that EasyLister works somewhat differently to Trade Me when it comes to your products. On Trade Me, everything you do is based around an auction - there is no real concept of a central product. You must manage your own stock levels and make sure you don't list more than you actually have to sell!

EasyLister is different - it is centered around products. You set up a a product when then can be listed on Trade Me multiple times in many different ways. It also keeps track of your stock to make sure you don't over-list. This is a more natural way of working with your products and allows for more flexibility in listing and relisting auctions.

Step 5 - Your first product

Click the new button to create a new product.

Lets get started!

If you're not already on the View products page, go to the menu and click products, then view products. This will show you a list of all the products you have set up in EasyLister.

To create a new products, click the new button.

Step 6 - Entering product detail

You are now in the Product auction setup screen. This is where you set up all details about your product, such as its price and how many of it you have in stock.

Let's start from the top.

Step 6a - Basic information
Basic information panel

The first thing your product needs is a name. This is purely for your reference and is used to distinguish this product from all the others in your system and as such must be unique.

You can also give your product a stock level, which can help you keep track of how many you have and stop you from listing too many on Trade Me. Although it is not required, we highly recommend using this feature.

Step 6b - Trade Me categories
Categories panel

The next thing to do is to tell EasyLister what category you would like your product listed in. By default, EasyLister uses a familiar category picker to help you find the most accurate category, however there is also a more advanced search feature available is required.

Step 6c - Pricing
Pricing panel

The pricing section is, not surprisingly, where you enter the price for this product. EasyLister fully supports the fixed-price offering feature of Trade Me, and we recommend using this feature for extra sales.

Step 6d - Limiting your audience
General panel

Sometimes you may want to limit who can bid on your auction or how many times it lists. This section allows you to do just that.

Step 6e - Auction length
Auction length panel

This is where you specify how long you want your auction to run for. If you are using promotions, we recommend setting it to 7 days to get the most exposure for your money.

Step 6f - Auction timing
Auction timing panel. Showing always maintain.
Auction timing panel. Showing specified times.

EasyLister provides three different options for when your product is listed on Trade Me.

Manual lists only is the default, and means that the product will not be listed unless you click the List Now button.

Always maintain allows you to specify how many auctions you want running for this product. EasyLister will make sure that you have this many auctions running at all times provided you have enough in stock.

Specify start times exactly allows you to specify the exact day and time you want auctions to be listed. This allows you to be very precise about your auction placement. You can specify as many times Monday-Sunday that you want, easylister will list at all these times, each week provided the product has stock

Step 6i - Describing your product
Description panel

This is where you set up your auction title, subtitle and description for your product. It is also where you can say if your product is brand new or not.

Step 6j - Promotions
Promotion panel

If you choose, you can promote your product on Trade Me by enabling the options here. However, keep in mind that using these will cost you extra in Trade Me fees.

Step 6k - Payment options

Payment Options panel

You can specify what payment options you accept for this product. If you have specified defaults in your Settings page, they will already be set for you.

Step 6l - Time to create!

After you have entered the product information, you can press the Save button to create your new product.

Step 7 - Validation

If you have not entered in all the required information, a validation box will now show to tell you what's missing. You do not need to correct this straight away, only you will not be able to list the product on Trade Me until you do.

This allows for a very handy feature - you can create your products ahead of time, saving them as you go. You do not need to have all the product information on hand until you're ready to list.
