Easy Bidder beta is open for testing!

December 8, 2008 – 1:52 pm

As reported on Friday, we have resurrected our TradeMe sniper and have opened it up for beta testing.  Anyone who would like to help us test this tool and offer suggestions and bug reports is welcome to sign up and start using it.

You can sign up for the beta by going to www.easybidder.co.nz and clicking on the “Signup” link in the menu.

Please let us know if you come across any problems, or if you have any suggestions or comments.  We want to make the best possible tool for sniping and with your help it will be possible.  Also remember that this is beta software, so it may contain bugs or have other problems.  Remember to report these so we can fix them ASAP.

Thanks, and happy sniping! :)

Easy Bidder – the new sniping tool for Trade Me

December 5, 2008 – 4:08 pm

It’s been a long time coming, but Easy Bidder (formally Trade Me Sniper and Snipe on TradeMe) is almost here!

History
Back when we first started Snipesoft, one of our main focuses was to develop and release a bidding tool (or sniper) for Trade Me.  For one reason or another, this plan has been put on the back burner… until now.

We decided the time was right to finish it up and get it out there for people to try.

What is it?
Easy Bidder is primary a bid management tool or sniper.  This means that it allows you to add bids to the system that will be placed on Trade Me at the last possible moment.  This has a few benefits:

  • Set up bids when you’re at your computer and let them place later when you may not be around
  • Avoid the bidding war. Since bids aren’t placed until the last possible moment you avoid driving the price up early on

Easy Bidder also provides a powerful groups feature, which lets you group several auctions together and bids on each one until one of them is successful.

When can I get it?
We’re almost finished implementing the essentials and will be releasing a beta version early next week.  If you’re interested in participating, please contact us and let us know.

We’ll put up a further post when we release the service explaining more about what it can do and how it can help you win those auctions.  Stay tuned. :)

Update to DVD catalogue support

December 4, 2008 – 11:44 am

We’ve updated our database to include the latest Trade Me DVD catalogue items, and have also improved the way we fetch these details.  This means that (much like our Trade Me category support) our DVD catalogue will be automatically updated and contain the most up-to-date data as possible without you having to do anything.

DVD catalogue support in OMINS
If you sell DVDs on Trade Me but don’t currently use OMINS, you may not be aware of our leading DVD catalogue support.  Not only do we fully support listing catalogue DVDs, we provide an advanced search and display right in the product setup (see example #1).

If you’d like to take advantage of the Trade Me DVD catalogue feature and you’re not currently using OMINS, let us know and we’ll be happy to help you get set up.

The Snipesoft Video!

November 27, 2008 – 4:56 pm

Madefromnewzealand.com is currently creating some promotional videos and they were kind enough to make a video profile of Snipesoft.

It promotes Snipesoft and of course that we are made from New Zealand, they were also keen to promote the fact we are beginning to work on an export project.

They just started filming us so you can see me in the office on a casual unshaven day :) , I thought I did pretty well with the on the spot questions too.

Thanks to Film Life people for making a pretty nice video, I love the intro with our logo. They did a great job!

Also have a look at themadefromnewzealand.com youtube channel you can see some other companies, right now they are all companies that work on the same floor as us in the Silicon Welly offices.

Is your company Made From New Zealand?

November 20, 2008 – 10:22 pm

If you run a business here in New Zealand, we encourage you to sign up and join Made From New Zealand – a community website aimed at helping New Zealand businesses get recognised and gain exposure in a global environment.

We share an office with the great people behind this website, and they really do want nothing more than to see kiwi businesses grow and reach their potential.  We wish them all the best!

Of course, Snipesoft is there and we’d love to see our clients up there too – we’ll even add ourselves as fans! :)

OMINS users’ sales grow 27% in 3 months!

November 12, 2008 – 2:29 pm

It’s a tough time for sellers at the moment. Many people are talking about the economy and how it’s slowing down.  However, it doesn’t seem to be affecting OMINS users – in fact, it’s quite the opposite.  Between July and October this year, our users’ sales have increased on average by 27%!

We believe OMINS users are able to work smarter because of the unique features such as advanced reporting and powerful automation.  These are just some of the features that give our users even more of an advantage when times are tough.

Snipesoft Update: New team member

November 11, 2008 – 4:06 pm

As some of you may know, Snipesoft has been super busy in the last couple of months!  Between moving to the heart of Wellington and rolling out updates to OMINS in record time (such as Sella and Zillion integration), we’re currently involved in a large international project which we hope to roll out early next year.

Summer of Code

To help us with this project, we’ve joined the Summer of Code – a non-profit program that matches smart students with innovative companies over the summer. Summer of Code helps students gain important job skills and experience in the industries they’re interested in.

Now in its third year, Summer of Code has placed over 40 students in companies across Wellington including Xero, Weta Digital, Trade Me and Project X.

On that note, we’d like to welcome Rebecca (Bex) to the Snipesoft team!  Rebecca is in the final year of her degree at Victoria University and is interested in gaining experience in a modern web company.

OMINS and Zillion integration

October 15, 2008 – 4:05 pm

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that we’re committed to e-commerce in New Zealand.  Part of this is supporting multiple venues for selling – from auction sites such as Trade Me, to your own personal infosites and e-commerce webstores.

It’s with this in mind that I’m happy to announce that OMINS now fully supports listing on the Zillion!

It’s very easy to enable Zillion integration in OMINS.  Simply add your Zillion account details and map your Zillion shipping & payment profiles and you’re done.  From there it’s just a simple matter of ticking the Zillion box on the products you want listed.  It’s that easy! :)

If you’d like to start listing on Zillion through OMINS, please contact us and we’ll help you get set up.

About Zillion:

Zillion is an online auction site 100% owned and run by New Zealanders, for New Zealanders. We have a strong focus on innovation and combining world-class features with friendly down-to-earth customer service.

Our goal is to provide New Zealanders with a strong alternative to Trade Me, and to make buying and selling faster, easier and more fun for everyone.

OMINS & Integration

I’m very happy to say that OMINS is the only system available that fully integrates with – and can list automatically on – Trade Me, Sella & Zillion.  There’s no messy exporting or uploading manually just to get products to list – it’s all handled automatically for you from our high-speed servers.  And of course these features come at no extra cost – they’re all included in the standard price.

What’s next?

We’re currently working on a large project which involves developing eBay integration for OMINS.  Watch this space!

Minor usability update

September 16, 2008 – 11:07 am

As part of our focus on usability in OMINS, we have implemented a small update today which should help make browsing through your OMINS system a bit quicker.

Often you want to know how many items a tab (“section”) contains.  For example, how many sales does this product have?  How many auction rules are set up?

Previously you’d need to go into each tab to find this information out.  To avoid this, we’ve made a small change which now shows the count on the tab itself so you can see at a glance how many items are in that tab.

Just a small change, but a nice step forward for usability.

Snipesoft has moved!

August 28, 2008 – 11:40 am

That’s right – we’ve moved Snipesoft from the sunny Kapiti Coast into the buzz of Wellington City!  The move will give us access to a wide range of service and experience which will help the company to grow further.

The office is shared with several like-minded internet companies – including PlanHQ, yMedia and marchingCubes – and is right in the heart of central Wellington.

We’re very excited about the move and are looking forward to what the future brings.
